Montezuma and Lake Ponderosa Homes for Sale

Montezuma, Iowa was established in 1848.  It is the Poweshiek County Seat and home of Diamond Lake Park. Poweshiek County Historical Society & Museums also located in Montezuma. The Montezuma Community School is K-12. 

Lake Ponderosa is a private, residential lake, located 8 miles south of Interstate 80 exit 191 and three miles west of Montezuma.  The 440-acres of wooded landscape and seven miles of shoreline offer a beautiful setting for 700 homes.

There are two lakes, the East Lake and the West Lake for you to enjoy fishing and boating.  The lake association sponsors the area’s Fourth of July fireworks display as well as many other events.  Lake Ponderosa is well stocked with Bass, Catfish, Blue Gills, Crappies and Walleye. Jumpin’ Jimmy’s is located by the Marina so you do not have to go far for a good meal.
